1. Lack of a good father figure.

2. Over controlling mother who may also bad mouth men all the time.

3. Being sexually molested as a child by someone of the same sex. Which usually turns out to be a trusted family figure.

4. Bad dating experiences during the awkward teen years or the cruel words from those of the opposite sex towards them when they were developing their sexual identity.

None of these have to do with genetics but they sure seem to come up as a common denominator within the homosexuals young life experiences.

homosexuality isnt passed on genetically...

you arent born with attractions for people, you develope this over time, and your environment while growing up influences what you become attracted to. its more psychological then it is any sort of disease or genetic cause.

Weird... straight people have these same experiences too! Wow, you're good at this. So why isn't Everyone who's had these experiences homosexual?

Now, how about, do you remember making a conscious decision to be straight or bi or gay when you were going thru puberty? Or did you just go with the hormone flow?

I know I won’t convince you otherwise, and my “data” is just as anecdotal as yours, but I beg to differ. I am a 47 year old homosexual man, and of course I know a good number of other homosexual (and bisexual) men. I personally don’t find any such simple pattern. In fact, I know of (fraternal) twin males, one homo and the other hetero: They obviously shared a similar upbringing and neither (to my knowledge) were molested as children.

A better answer to your question (actually, more like a statement) could be made by independent, scientific analysis. I hope someone with such data comes forward to answer your question.

These are common experiences for everyone.

If you're wondering about whether homosexuality is caused by genetics, or by the environment, the truth is it doesn't matter. There have always been gay men and women, and there will always be gay men and women. It's just how well they are accepted by society in that day and age that matters.

Um....those don't actually hold up to scientific (read well conducted) surveys. One very common theme is that they have always known that they were attracted to the same sex though. Seems more innate than nurture would account for. If not genetic then at least developmental would seem likely.

That’s just not true (except #4 - who hasn't that happened to them. Are you saying that never happened to you? If so, I don't believe you.)

I bet you have met few to no homosexuals in your life. I bet you have never put this theory to the test and actually talked to a homosexual.

Some idiot put it in your head; a pastor or something.

None of those apply to me and I am Gay. I suspect that it is like saying all men are good mechanics or all women are good cooks, it is a sterotype.

If you use mathmatical principles and apply them to human behavior especially sexuality it would result in aprox. 60% of the population is actually bisexual and this varying in degree. IF this were so then enviromental/experience factors would result in influencing choice as to orientation. The straight world is not ready to admit that they have homosexual tendancies and are infact bisexual with a orientation choice influenced by societal pressures, so you point is mute except to intelectuals.

Well youre probably right about my upbringing but I have quite a number of heterosexual men and women who have been through what you mentioned or worse. They seem to have other problems in life though.

My sister was a lesbian long before she even knew what sex was.

We all knew this. And yes, she was born that way. There is no question of it.

You obviously have no experience with this, however. Be sure to keep that in mind before you make such generalizations.
