In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.
The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.
Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.
Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.
Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It’s meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

Yeah blame the devil for everything like these people are doing.
Lucifer = angel of light
Light = enlightenment.
maybe these people should wake up.
People keep killing in the name of a Loving God then blame it all on Satan for everything whether its war or whatever.
Some people sure are dellusional.
Btw he flooded the planet not cuz he felt like it but because there was too much sin on the planet and GOD couldnt handle it. Same thing with Fire in sodom and Gommorrah. You'd think GOD would find some other way to deal with this.

Alas, this is not the only lie about GOD published in the Bible.
The entire idea of having a supposedly almighty, all-present, all-loving and eternal BEING that needs to be 'worshipped' is nothing but a GOD made in the image of man. Add to that the alleged 'deeds of God', such a causing the flood and having to sacrifice his only child to atone for sins that sort of happened despite his own Almightyness...
Sounds like you would enjoy and benefit from reading a book called "Sins of Scripture" by Shelby Spong, ex-bishop of Newark, in which he exposes several Bible-thumping preachings and teachings for what they really are and offers a healthy, refreshing and reasonable perspective into spirituality.

Technically, it has always been mankind that has killed in the name of God, to follow God's plan and carry out his holy wishes.
God himself has not raised a personified finger to bless or curse anyone, but he wants you to kill people working on Sunday (Exodus 35:2), disrespectful teenagers (Deut 21: 18-21), divorced people, and homosexuals (Leviticus chapter 20).
And let's not forget that you can beat your slaves (yes, God likes slavery) to within an inch of their life, but as long as they suffer for at least two days before dying you are off the hook (Exodus 21:20-21).
That sure is a loving God the Christians have concocted, isn't it?

You pathetic soul. I don't think you deserve to be on this wonderful helpful site. You are one of those useless people with nothing better to do then try to maybe rile people, but people that believe the opposite of you are content and happy, full of the knowledge of the Grace of God. You are no threat, but you are headed straight for Hell. You keep putting out trash like this and I will report you, that you can be sure of.
In spite of everything, I wish you a Happy New Year !!!

irony...no.However it could be said the same of Satan killing many or making many suffer as well by presenting a world of self-indulgence (drinking=liver disease,drugs=disease,homelessness,finacial ruin,families broken,suicide,etc),Satan, iwould even say, is finding himself in some of our churches where senior leadership have allowed him in by cracking the door open,succumbing to the curiosities/temtations of the world.I believe Satan is very much responsible for poverty in the world,HIV/Aids and government corruption in third world countries, where the leadership of those nations are at the mercy of militant groups who preach hate and take away from the common people.Satan was the puppet master during Nazi Germany,famine in Africa, the mass suicides in Guyana (Jonestown Massacre),and still is, in my opinion the very truth behind the controversy of the king james bible,the argument between evolution and God, and many other issues that tear us apart as a people over God and man,God and government, etc.Hey you asked a question, I'm giving you some answers.There are many events where Satan was responsible for the destruction of man.Christ gave his life as it was in his Father's plan to save man. What has Satan done to save man?I wouldn't want to remind you why you should want to worship God. The fact that you want to be reminded of this tells me that you believe a reason exists.You must find that reason.

Satan is the one who tempts and puts the seed of murderous thoughts in out minds. Sin first comes from a thought. God flooded the earth because man was so wicked and sinful he found just one man to be found righteous, Noah.

No doubt buddy, God has killed millions, I love the excuse Christians have of "we're his creations he can do whatever he wants." All compassionate God my butt, he kills people for burning incense at the wrong time. But luckily the bible is just stories passed down by the victors of wars, and we all know that the victors of wars get to write the history.
