Wouldn't have been close. Ali was too big, too quick, and too smart. Marciano was a great heavyweight at such a small size with his heart and power. But he didn't have as much power as Sonny Liston or George Foreman. Ali would dominate.

Marciano in his prime would have taken out Ali in his prime. Like I said in a previous post, Marciano was hard to hit. He utilized his diminutive stature to his advantage. In addition to being extremely well balanced and probably the most fit champion of all time (due to his extreme workout regimen), he possessed great power than Ali, a good chin and excellent stamina. I would predict a knockout in the later rounds, not unlike what was forecasted in the computer fight. Marciano would bang away at the bigger man's body and arms, and get in quite a few upper cuts and illegal elbows as well. :)

This would be the greatest fight in history. There would definitely need to be a rematch. Marciano's fighting whirling Durbish style may be deemed clinically insane and impossible to run over. A rope a dope defense would make this fight too close to call. I think Ali's size would make the difference. He had five inches and thirty solid pounds on Marciano. I'd hate to be the ref who had to brake them up in the clenches.

In their prime Ali would win. Marciano was a powerful puncher but he would never be able to find Ali. Ali by decision or knock out if Marciano tired late.
