Long ago in America, people stopped questioning the government and began accepting its authority, no matter what. Television and print media, having become profit driven entities rather than public services, switched from informing voters in a vigilant democracy to offering up "infotainment" to sustain the attention of those who believe they will be a rich and famous celebrity someday, despite any evidence to the contrary.
Fun experiment... ask someone you know about some celebs, then ask them who your governor is. Then ask them if they are going to be rich someday.
You'll see what I mean.

Because Americans are too busy surviving in this dog eat dog society to really have the time to pay attention. Between work, kids, bills, etc. nobody has the time except people who sit at home all day (losers). Seriously the Feds could abolish free speech and private property and some people in this country wouldn't find out until a month later because they just don't have the time to even watch the news for 30 minutes.

we are sheep and they are the wolves. they distract us with politics so that while we are busy arguing, they slowly sedate us and feast on our mundane lives. we are here for their amusement, they only tolerate us because they hate to do any real work for themselves, so they promote the best puppets. take away our rights. a Shepherd will come and annihilate the ravenous pack. check out the military commissions act, it basically says that if the gov. doesn't like you, you're a terrorist. now, that was enacted in a predominately Republican congress, but now there is a Democrat majority...GUN CONTROL will be in full force, and those who try to stand their ground will be terrorists and treated as such. no fair speedy trial, indefinite inprisonment, threat of torture...these two groups have been working together for years in a concerted effort to enslave our once great nation. the reps increase security, and the dems decrease self-reliance. we are being bred into cattle. too stupid to know when we're going to the slaughter. the Romans were distracted with gladiators and running water, we have football and terrorists. nero will play his fiddle again.

I think your basic premise is wrong.Rich getting richer poor getting poorer. How does that lead to complacency?Seems to me it would lead to unrest.Poor folks are not poor because Rich folks are rich..America's poor would be Africa's rich.Complacency, that's more a case of folks empowering the leaders who give them the most, and not worrying where it comes from.Or when it will run out. That's what happened in Rome.

its much easier to ignore the congress and blame the President because he only has one name. Trying to remember 104 senators requires effort, and Americans just dont have the time for that.
I suggest making commercials longer, and posting Congress persons names across the bottom of the screen during football games.

The cons and libs are too busy trying to insult each other into the ground to actually pay attention to what's actually happening with our officials.. Its truly sad. Its like we are not evolving we are devolving. I actually agree. Very smart and astute observation. Glad I am not the only one who noticed..

You are correct. People are too complacent about politics. Not enough people vote either. History has a nasty habbit of repeating itself.
