Right. Dead. Decayed.
Our bodies go back into the universe as atoms and molecules to be reused. What we think of as our spirits will exist only in the memory of those who remember us.
So I live ethically and with gusto since this is my only time around and I want to feel good about myself and my life while I'm here.
I'm not afraid of death (all living things die), just afraid of getting there via some long horrible disease, if that's what happens. I'd rather blow out like a candle.

The only thing we can be certain of is that we get one life, so we'd do well to make the best use of the time we have. Humanists and atheists stress the importance of living a good and fulfilling life. No one knows what happens after death, but all evidence leads us to believe that once you're dead, your consciousness ceases. That's the end of you.

This is our time.
Make the most of it.

I just wish, even bereft with doctrinal advantage, they could realize a simple and most fundamental truth that there is a big difference between an animated and dead carcass. I wish they could start asking what happen o that "thing" that used to animate a physical body that's missing with dead people.

Do you know what happens to Christians? Maybe God is angry at them for worship a false idol and they all go to their hell. Christians always say it's better to believe in God and be wrong, then to not believe and be right. But maybe, it's eternal damnation for Jesus worshipers.

Me? I believe I will go to a new plain of existence based on how good of a person I was in this life.

There is no afterlife. Atheists do not believe in one.

I've had a near death experience and I still know that there is no after life. Unless, at least, you think I should be worshipping Fenrir Wolf since that's all I saw in my NDE (well, besides the cave we were in...)

After death, life is over. I don't know this for a fact, but I'm fairly confident that it is so. I'm sure you think you have a good idea what's going to happen to me, but I'm not convinced that you are correct.

That's kind of generalising atheism all into one belief!

You can believe in cause and effect and re-incarnation without believing in the relative existance of dieties.

As for knowing what will happen to them... does anyone athiest or theist ever truly know what will happen to them?

That's a contradiction. There is no afterlife. There's life and then there's nothing. You live and then you cease to be.

I too have had a near death experience and caught no glimpse of pearly gates or winged angels.

Stop with the silly empty threats, they don't scare Atheists, only insecure believers

I don't be in the afterlife. You die, thats it. just food for worms. I am aware of some other beliefs, but do not engage in such myself, though I RESPECT others ideas.
