my mom used to steam tilapia and she only uses onion chives, ginger, soy sauce and oil. can you please tell me how to steam a fish. appreciate it.

Get a piece of parchment paper, fold it in half and cut it like you would cut a heart, sort of like a candy cane shape. Unfold and set your fish on the paper and put your other ingredients on top. Fold the top over and fold the paper aroud the edges to close it up tight and put into a 350 degree oven for 10 to 15 minutes.

Also search "en papillote" that's the French Culinary term for it.

I'm assuming you mean a fillet?
put it in a glass casserole dish skin side down, cover with lemon slices, cover the top with plastic wrap and nuke on high for a couple minutes, then check it and keep doing so until the center flakes and is no longer translucent.

Wrap in foil with your favorite seasonings & cook over medium/hot coals til done.....Fish is awesome on the grill!!
