AVON--I would say that it's a GOOD thing, that they are not driven to kill.
You missed the point by miles.

Yes.
And to those who said, "those who do such things don't truly believe in any god" -- well, for unbelievers, they sure yell up a good game.
Many of them die in battle screaming, "for the glory of god!" -- how can we tell otherwise?

Certainly. There was no "religion" or knowledge of God with Ghengis Kahn, Attila the Hun, Alexander theGreat, Hitler, Stalin etc.
But the devil who encouraged these guys is a liar and likes the world to believe that God is to blame for all his(the devil's ) evil.
John 8:43-47
43 Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. 44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. 45 Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me! 46 Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don't you believe me? 47 He who belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God."

Being a history buff, I can honestly say that there has not been any wars there were started because of a lack of someones belief, but there have been quite a few in the name of God. I am not an atheist, but this is certainly an interesting thought.

I don't think it is one group, its humans as a whole.
Although some of the biggest and bloodiest conflicts in history are over religion. Not placing blame just stating an opinion.

Yep, I think we can agree on that. Hitler was a christian, and Mao and Stalin were insane to try to ban religion - that just makes it more popular. Plus the being insane part.

Maybe we should agree that it is humans that have, and not consider their religion. There is no need to play the "My beliefs are better than yours" game, right? Maybe the energy spent on blaming should be used on preventing or stopping. In the time it took me to write this millions worldwide have been killed, mostly in the name of religion or other personal belief.

I would agree...take that asshole, Rick Warren, who will make statements about atheists being such a small, ineffectual group and in the very next breath will blame communism and genocide on us.

That's because atheism is a relatively new concept. You want to look into wars and killing, look into paganism. Every pagan culture has a bloody war god. Modern paganism is about peace and harmony (for the most part); however, their historical counterparts were all about war and competition for resources.
