not really. i had a friend that did that when he was a baby and it had something to do with his brain balance. i would at least talk to your Dr about it.

Walking on the tip-toes can be a sign of a neurological problem. It can also suggest a problem with a shortened tendon in the leg. Take your child to the pediatrician to rule out a physical problem, and then ask to see a neurologist. Have your child evaluated. Another possibilty is sensory defensiveness. Perhaps he doesn't like the feeling of the floor on his feet. A specialist will be able to help you figure it out. This is not normal behavior though, and should be checked out. Without the chance to observe your son or behaviors that may accompany the tip-toe activity, I can't tell you for sure what is the cause. However, you should definitely make an appointment with the pediatrician to rule out shortened tendons, sensory issues and the possibility of PDD/autism or other neurological disorders.

Its fine but if it goes past age 3 then it could be a problem...I took a class in school about autism and experts say that walking on tip toes after age 3 is a mild sign of autism...im not trying to scare you or anything im just trying to give some insight thats all

My daughter is 3 1/2 yrs old & still walks & runs on her tippy toes. Her Dr. said that its fine & wont hurt her & you should see how defined & strong her calf muscles are!

Dont worry about it - hes fine!

My son was doing the same, we spoke with our pediatrician and she said that he would even out eventually, and he did. Put sneakers on him often, especially around the house, and he will get the feel of having to put his heel down. That's what did it for us. It was also suggested that thsi was a hereditary trait, and when we asked the grandmas, they said "yup" at least one kid in each family does the tip toes walking. Don't worry! As always, if you are really concerned, speak with the pediatrician.

Get it checked out right away; it can mean a few things, the worst one being Cerebral Palsy. My friend's son did the same thing and she thought it was just a habit he got into but it turns out that he has a mild case of Cerebral Palsy. He has since undergone surgery to stop him from toe walking.

Normal.. Sometimes when they first start walking thier balance isn't quite done developing and they find it easier to walk tip-toe. If it makes you worry, go to the doctor but my kid did this until her balance got worked out (about 2 1/2) and she is in competitive cheerleading now so her balance is fine she tumbles and flips everywhere.. :-)

Here's an excellent website on this subject http://www.drfoot.co.uk/tip_toe_child.htm I would get him checked out by a pediatrician right away. It could be habitual or it could be something a little more serious. I hope that this helps & things turn out ok. Good luck!!
