It counts against you on your driving record for insurance for 7 years. After that, you can apply to the court to have it expunged from your record.

In my experience a DUI will only stay on your actual MVR for 39 months. If someone runs your MVR after it's 39 months old, it will not pull it up. And they will ask you "Have you had any major violations in the last 5 years?" Some companies ask 7 years, some ask 4 years, depends on the company though. But if someone comes into our office and their DUI is 39 months old, and we run their MVR... we won't see it on the MVR and the only way we can tell is if they tell us. If they don't tell us, then we can't charge for it.
Now I'm in Arizona, and I'm not sure if it's the same exact way there, but I've been told that all MVRs from all states are run for 39 months.
Hope that helps.

Most insurance companies are going to charge you for it either for 3 years or 5, depending on their own underwriting criteria. It remains a part of your driving history for 7 years even though it will no longer be affecting your insurance rates after that 3 to 5 year period.
