Yeah. It does have some simmilarities to chirstianity, but that's not why i respect them! They have expressed their beleifs honestly... they should be respected for that alone.. It's a peaceful PHILOSOPHY. and many of their ideals are very intellegent and thought-through. :)

Add me to the list of people who respect and follow in certain ways the teachings of Buddha. That's it. No quotes from the Dhammapada, no comparisons to other religions, no attempts to convert others here. This is an ethical choice made of free will.

I do. There are differences, but, if you examine all of the different "spiritual teachings" of the world, you will find a lot in common. For instance, we all realize that peace comes from within, it is not something that is granted from outside, which the Bible, Buddhists and others teach.
My favorite eastern saying is: "One journey, many paths, one Light, many lanterns."

specific to the two. there are lots of people who have been spectacular geniuses, composers, philosophers, artists and so on who have been misunderstood or perhaps demonized. They weren't often respected, yet quite they did have some comprehend for their very own skills and as a result themselves. There are additionally lots of people who comprehend others, who they do no longer even particularly know lots approximately, in straightforward terms because of the fact they carry skill or are wealthy. Your quest for self comprehend ultimately has to return from interior. you ought to desire to comprehend your self, to stay a existence that contains love and comprehend for your self and others (no count how badly you're taken care of or they have been abused).

I respect all faiths and kindness and compassion are pretty much found in every one.

Whether people adhere to it or not is a different matter entirely.

While I am not Buddhist, I have a great respect for the philosophy. I can't same the same for Christianity though. They are different as night and day. For one thing, Buddhism does not threaten you with eternal hell if you don't buy into the philosophy. Big difference.

I don't know how you could fail to respect its honesty and compassion even if you don't accept the validity of its beliefs on rebirth and karma etc.
