Now that white Eastern Europeans have stepped up and taken control of the heavyweight division (they won't last long), I'm amused at the bleating from certain idiots about how great they are and how american boxing is on the decline.
The irony is that these boxers would never have gotten to that point if they had not incorporated American training methods into their regimen.

In the lower weight classes, good fighters like Joe Calzhage, Edison Miranda (a real monster) and Ricky Hatton are making a name for themselves, and the way some people talk, one would think that American boxing is finished.
Not so. America is, always has been, and always will be the proving ground for any fighter worth his (or her) mettle. They have to make a name for themselves here; we have the best competition, the best promotions, the best networks, the best everything.

And that's what people can't stand, the fact that America has the best of everything, so, in that sense, I understand the jealousy.

ribafish - I knew you'd fall into this trap.
Only American national anthems before fights? Excuse me? What fantasy planet are you living on? Before any international boxing event staged in the USA, the anthems of both countries are always played. Don't believe me? Tune into any international event staged by HBO, the best boxing network in the world.
If you're going to talk sh*t, at least get your facts straight first, genius.
As far as the behavior of boxing fans goes, I recall the ones booing the loudest at the Holyfield/Lewis draw were the AMERICAN fans, at the same as AMERICAN fight announcer, Jim Lampley, was announcing that Lewis was robbed.
At the same time, I recall Marvin Hagler not being able to receive his belt in the ring, as he was too busy ducking bottles and other debris hurled at him by British fans after his destruction of Alan Minter in England.

If my statement about the best of everything being in the USA is stupid, tell me why, don't just call me names.

Otherwise you look very foolish indeed. No stretch for you.
I don't even respect your boxing knowledge, because you have none. That's always very apparent every time you open your big mouth on this forum.

Now go back and salivate over those pictures of the Klitschkos you have pinned up over your bed.

Don Trollio - the name suits you.
Very seldom have I encountered someone talk as much sh*t as you just have, without backing it up or having their facts straight.
How is Ali a degenerate? Or Frazier? Or Rachman? Or Roy Jones?
The NBA has the best basketball players in the world. Period. The best women's soccer team, once led by the great Mia Hamm, is right here in the US of A.
Give the mens' game enough catch up time, and it'll eventually be a world beater, too. But, ultimately, who cares? In my opinion, soccer is a game for hooligans and degenerates, anyway. Never been a fan of the game myself.
On which planet does MMA (a terrific sport in its own right) outsell boxing? The biggest selling ENTERTAINMENT event, encompassing music, boxing, MMA etc was the second Tyson/Holyfield battle.
As terrific as MMA is, it has a lot of catching up to do. More than a century's worth.

Brad, you shouldn't even waste your time arguing with these jerks. They are the ones that started bashing and disrespecting the American fighters just because Europe has a couple of "Champions" in the heavy weight division. Like it or not, America was, is, and always will be the hotbed of boxing! Why do they think so many of their precious European fighters come over here to train? Why is Klitshcko with Emanuel Steward? They know we have the best trainers, they can get the best sparring here, and they can fight the best fighters here. How many of the Latin fighters go over to England to fight the best fighters in the world? They come to the States because they know where the best competition is. They just need to stop hatin on American fighters and America period, for that matter. Jealousy breeds Hate!

I think you said it all and i think i know who you are talking about with your question. This guy just seems to get off on bashing American fighters. I myself have never judged a fighter by his color or nationality. I judge them by whether or not they can fight in the ring. This guy(s) you're talking about seems to think just because you're not a fan of the Klitschko brothers or the other Euro heavyweight champs that you automatically are against all European fighters. That just shows his ignorance. I was a fan of Wladimir a while ago. I thought he had the talent to be a good heavyweight. That was before his KO losses to Brewster and Sanders. The Klitschko brothers are just not that good to me and it has nothing to do with where they're from. There are a lot of American Heavyweights that i don't like.also. The division is just not that strong as it once was. Do you really think all these Euro fighters would be at the top if Tyson, Bowe, Holyfield and Lewis were in their primes? Of course not! All it is is just jealousy from these guys and jealous people will always bash you when you're down because that's what they want to see.

Brad, I don't have to answer this question you've said it all my friend! The Slavs/Euros have got to come over here. I will not stop stating that FACT. If they are so great what are they fearing?
The bigger money, worldwide exposure, and the proving ground is here in America. I think what they are AFRAID of is the fact that the big sharks swim in our waters. They would truly have to risk their title and the opportunity to make the money they are COMFORTABLE with making over there if they fight here.
Some names off the top of my head of foreign fighters that have become GREAT and beloved by the American hardcore boxing fans because they had the balls to let it all hang out and literally risk everything to fight/compete in America (yes their livelihood, their families' security) because of a combination of their desire for greatness in a sport they love and a hunger to provide their family with a better way of life. Here they are:
Alexis Arguello
Azumah Nelson
Brian Mitchell
Lupe Pintor
Carlos Zarate
Ruben Olivares
Salvador Sanchez
Carlos Ortiz
Roberto Duran
Rodrigo Valdez
Erik Morales
Marco Antonio Barrera
Julio Cesar Chavez
Victor Galindez
Wilfred Benitez
Wilfredo Gomez
Ken Buchanan
Ricardo Lopez
Emile Griffith
Marcel Cerdan - it cost him his life but he still took the chance
And many others that I don't have the time to list, you get my gist.
Sorry lovers of Euro/Slav boxers it's a fact that you can't get around. Try as you may.
A truly fantastic question Brad.

Nobody is envious of american fighters. how can anyone be envious of a degenerate like toney, rahman, brewster, tyson, ali, frazier, or roy jones.

America does not have the best in everything. Just look at our national basketball team, soccer team, etc.

Why do you think mma ppvs continuously outsell boxing ppvs? Its not that the world is sick of american boxers, its that americans are sick of american boxers. And for good reason

TO BRAD - YOU CAN CONTACT ME MY 360 YAHOO. GO TO MY 360 PAGE AND SEND MESSAGE AND IF THAT DOESN'T WORK. START YOUR OWN 360 PAGE AND ADD ME AS A FRIEND.

THE EUROPEAN FIGHTERS ARE TECHNICALLY PROFICIENT. IF THEY COME FROM POOR BACKGROUNDS, THEY MAY HUNGER TO BE GREAT. REMEMBER THAT A LOT OF GOOD/GREAT FIGHTERS COME FROM POOR BEGINNINGS.

THAT SAID, MOST OF THEM ARE OVERRATED. WHEN PEOPLE THINK THAT THEY ARE GOOD IS SOMETHING THAT I HAVE BEEN TALKING ON YAHOO FOR MONTHS AND IN LIFE FOR DECADES (WRONG CONCLUSIONS/WRONG OPINIONS) BUT I MUST ADMIT THEY ARE ENTITLED TO THEM.
