What are most of you breeders being charged for an emergency c-section at an emergency clinic now-a-days? A friend of mine needed one on one of her bitches and I was calling around and was getting quoted between $1500-$2500 on a large dog. I had one done on one of my Shepherd bitches about 3 years ago in the middle of the night and the bill was a little over $700. That was with a litter of 11 pups. This ***** was sectioned, but was very ill. I am fostering the 2 live pups from that litter here with my newborn litter. So my girl now has 6 pups she is caring for.
Another question for the breeders is what wormer are you using with your pups? And what vaccine are you using. I use Pyran-50 and Vanguard plus 5.

The price really varies around here, depending on location. Vets in Ontario are more expensive than those in Quebec, as a rule. I think I paid around $1500 for the one time I had to have a bi tch sectioned, but that was 8 years ago.

I use Strongid-T for deworming, unless a fecal reveals something that needs other dewormers. As far as vaccines, I just go with what my vet is using.

Tyke, I wanna move where you are. Even my big dogs shouldn't cost too much more than yours.

Jeez, I live in a low cost area!!! Thank God!! I have never had a bit ch needing a c-section...yet...but a friend just had an midnight emergency and has 11 healthy puppies..all doing great. They are Bernese and the bill was $395. The vet is great too.

I use only Merial vaccines and am currently using the 4 way.

I also only worm with Strongid T, and then bring run my own fecals. If something else is an issue....Panacur. Albon and Metronidazole are always on hand for "emergencies".

I was recently quoted $500 to $700 on my mini dachshund, and opted for a spay instead (the pups were dead and I decided not to breed the dam anymore.)
I use a product called D-worm by Cutter that gets hookworms as well as other parasites. (I live in the Deep South). I use a seven-in-one vaccine.
