I wouldn't think so. I'm not a doctor, but to me, if you had carpal tunnel syndrome, you'd have the problems at the site of the problem (the wrist area) and below. What you're describing could be associated with elbow and shoulder nerve, or even possibly some nerve problems coming from the spine. It may or may not be associated with a prior injury. It could be something also as continuous muscle spasms that are affecting a nearby nerve. If you haven't seen a doctor, then now's the time. Best of luck to you.

The number one 'differential diagnosis' for carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (TOS). TOS is a condition of nerve/vascular compression that can occur from a variety of problems in the neck and shoulder girdle. TOS is very common, but sadly, most doctors have little knowledge about it. Consequently, it is rarely properly diagnosed. This failure to diagnose TOS may be one reason why 50% of all CTS surgeries fail - the doc treated the wrong condition.

You may want to ask your doc for a referral to a specialist in Thoracic Outlet Syndrome to be sure this is not the cause of your symptoms.

Best wishes and good luck.

I don't know. But I have it and it's killing the bones on the side of my wrist. I'm wrapping my wrist everyday with ace bandages. I can't sleep with the bandages on and when I wake up in the morning it feels like someone karate chopped my wrist. I went to the doctor and he gave me 500mg of Naproxen. It helps with the pain.
