I am currently separated from my husband. He got out of the Army because of post traumatic stress disorder, and I'm wondering if I'm still covered under the insurance?

Hi!

I do "hate" these questions, no not you but how complicated it gets.

My advise is simple: contact a service organization such as the Disabled American Veterans, call the local chapter, tell them and they will know you need to see a "NSO" National Service Officer. These are the folks that do claims and figure stuff out!

I suspect that he was not 100% but may have "retired" with a medical (I got one of those during Vietnam).

I suspect until the divorce is final you may be, but as others stated, many issues. I wonder if your ID card is still valid?

Whatever call the DAV!

I am sad over your situation, it is common, I am as noted a retired army vet but also a psychologist. Please talk to the DAV!

Hi. I was in the military for 6 years and I was recently medically retired from the army as well. First question is was he RETIRED or just discharged. If he wasn't medically retired then he won't have the military benefits only a percentage of how much money he should receive from the military based on his pay. If he was retired then he will have all of the benefits including tricare. The only problem is he should be able to remove you from his insurance at any time. If he has then you wouldn't be covered. Go to the tricare website and you should be able to find out more. I know something like this that occured with a friend of mine. though he was still in the army and him and his wife were seperated and he removed her from his insurance. you need to ask your husband this as well. or again call tricare or go to the website. hope this helps!!

Legally you are still his wife until you get divorced. You may be eligible for VA medical care depending at what level the VA considers him to be disabled. As long as he was discharged honorably he will always be eligible to use the medical center. The key word is eligible but not necessarily free. Check with your local VA. Also, check with a lawyer because you are entitled to any benefits he has so long as you are still his wife and MAYBE after wards.

Probably not. The best bet is to just call tricare yourself. They will ask for his social security number and tell you immediately!

Unless he retired - no. He will be covered by the VA.
