The comcast people came and installed a HD cable box. It came with the component cables (Red, Blue, Green). I hooked them up properly in the coresponing ports, I get a clean picture, but no sound? Help please.

So get a pair of audio RCA cables and connect them from the set-top box to the TV.
If there are cables, make sure the set-top box does not output audio from the optical output.

If your set-top box has HDMI, then buy an HDMI cable and connect the set-top box to the TV (assuming it has one too).
HDMI carries both audio and video.
Make sure the set-top box output audio over HDMI in PCM (and not Dolby Digital)

Component Cables I'm pretty sure are only Video. You will need RCA (red and white) cables for audio also

asuming that theres a remote control box w/ your new toy, try turning off the remote MUTE option, if that doesn`t work try the sleep timer, one or both of them are activated
