My husband thinks he's coming down with a flu which would mean our son is already exposed. Should I forget about giving him the flu shot? His doctor kept pushing it lst week and I had turned it down. Any advice?? How long does it take for the flu shot to take effect?

It takes 2 weeks for full immunity to develop after a person has received the flu shot. Hopefully you have already received your flu shot and are well prepared for the flu season ahead! If not, please contact a local doctor’s office to see if they have any of the flu vaccine in their clinic and get an appointment asap to get your flu shot.

Toddlers need two flu shots four weeks apart. It takes four to six weeks on average to build up an immunity. Flu has an incubation period of 5 to 7 days. That means, the virus is growing in your body before you have symptoms and may be contagious. Influenza is one of the most contagious viruses that we know about.
Chances are, if your husband is showing signs of flu, everyone has been exposed already. That doesn't mean everyone will get the flu. Some people can fight it off effectively.
There is also a chance the your husband doesn't have the flu but a cold or fatigue.
I advocate flu shots for children no matter what time of year. In warmer states, flu comes later. There is no sense in letting a child experience uncomfortable symptoms of an illness if there is something out there to prevent it.
The best thing to do at this point is call your pediatrician and ask if they still recommend the flu shot for your child. Even if your child has been exposed, a flu shot could help lessen the illness if it develops in him.

No offense, but I feel sorry for your whole family, if your taking them every year to get the flu shot!! Its all toxins, that society thinks is whats "Best", because the Medical Profession has the FDAs approval.. How sad is that!! You need to go and buy the "Fit for Life" book.. I would never put my children through even the immunization shots, if it wasn't against the law.. Its all a Great Big Hokes, and just another way for the Medical Association to profit, off of our Governments people!! There's so many ways the Medical Field and our Government have people such as yourself thinking all of these things are what everyone is suppose to do.... When a simple , drinking of lots of fluids will flush out your childs toxins in his/her body , whereas: the shot is only keeping the toxins in his/her body , in which those toxins need to be flushed out, from time to time... Educate your family instead of being with the "In" crowd, and just doing what everyone says your suppose to do!! I highly recommend you get the book!!! But thats just me!!! Have a nice day, oh, if you read my profile,I have since declined to get involved with the medical field, and chosen another profession educate myself in, since I typed that up.... And since, I found out so much, about all of the things I know today.
