I resently lost my brother a year ago...He was a funny character! Strange things start to happen like a song might come on that was his favorite, I would smell his cologne, I would smell Black N Mild, hear him say hey, see something and it disappear, or something falls, ya know, weird things...But for Christmas, we all gathered for dinner at my mother's house and in 3 pictures, an orb showed up...I also went to the site were he died at (he died in a car accident)and took a picture...In that picture also, you can see an orb with eyes and a smile...What is going on?

He's trying to send a message. Maybe one of the family members still mourn for his departure. You see, he will continue in that state(one who would like to cross the other side but was unable because of the emotional force of a mourning relatives) until everyone who loves him accept the fact that he longer has any business in the world you live in. Thus, the sooner one let's go their emotion over their lost one the better it would be for him to rejoin the creator in the spiritual world.

Oh by way, shippocha... describes orb correctly. I just got myself carried away with your story and forgot your question. Sorry.

What makes orbs appear in pictures?
The most common orbs are caused by dust particles which float in the air. You can see these dust particles with the eye when a strong sun-beam comes in through the window.

If one of these dust particles is floating just inches in front of the camera's lens, then the photographic flash makes it very bright. This bright dust particle is grossly out of focus, so it just shows up as a round spot of light in the picture.

Of course, dust isn't the only particle which can reflect light, and make an orb on the picture. Raindrops, snow flakes, mist, and even gnats can reflect the flash, and make orbs in the photograph. When there is a fine mist hanging in the air, hundreds of little orbs can show up in a single photo.

There is even one photograph of orbs posted on the internet, which was taken at night, with the camera looking through a car's window. The "orbs" presented are, rather obviously, the reflections of pairs of headlights from other cars on the road.

Other orbs are caused by something called "lens flare". This is when there's a bright light, like the sun, in the picture or just outside of it. Lens flare is caused by multiple internal reflections in the camera's lens. You're likely to see examples of lens flare when watching the winter olympics. The camera man will be following a skier down a hill, and as he ski's past the morning sun, a line of orbs will scan across the screen.

Do other people share the same experiences as you do? Sometimes when a person is hungry they may smell food, this doesn't neccesarily mean food is present; the thought of food and the strong presence may be in the mind.

There are many websites that speak about "orbs" being ghosts and others that do not. The perception of each individual can affect the way they see things.

Orbs are a mass of spiritual energy, representing a dead person. Orbs represent human energy, never an angel's energy because angels give off a different energy. to the scoffers: ive seen GIANT orbs in a graveyard in Key west, florida, where spiritual energy is very active. The person with the camera had a clean lens, that was checked AND the camera was digital. If you dont believe me, then thats your problem.

Take the disk, pictures or negatives to a professional film lab.
They will make pictures without the orbs or tell you why they're there.
You might want to be 'scientific' about this and not 'read into this' something that's not really there.

It was dust. As humans we are pattern seeker and can find faces where there are none. Hear words in random noise and putting extra meaning into a song or a whiff of cologne. I am sorry that you lost your brother, but becareful do not be deceived or look for things that are not there.

Orbs are dust particles that light is reflecting off of. They ALL have little smiley faces because of the way the light is registered by your camera. You will remember your brother forever and these little things will always be around you, but nothing is going on. Your brother is gone. One day, you will be, too. And that's okay.

Orbs are spheres, ball-like round figures.

Tell your brother that it's OK to move on.

Apparently these orbs are ghosts, if not just specs of dust.

Orbs are light refracting off of dust particles in the air. Nothing more, nothing less.
