Eat a hand full of nuts every day and drink plenty of water. This works for me - I have bouts of irritable bowel syndrome and the nuts keep me 'running smoothly'. I wish you well!
God bless!!!

The best way to avoid it is to find out what is causing it and eliminate the cause. You also need to increase your fluid intake and your fiber intake both with fresh fruits and veggies as well as using a fiber supplement like citrucel, metamucil or benefiber. If your stools are hard then take colace aka docusate once or twice daily to soften your stools. First and foremost though is to find the cause of your constipation and take care of the cause.

Plenty of fibre (25-35 gm/day) - fruits and vegetables, whole grains, legumes. Plenty of fluids (2-3 L per day) (hot fluids sometimes help to stimulate the bowel to move). Exercise - keeping active helps to keep your bowels moving regularly.
