Yes you can use velveeta in a slow cooker. It works best if you cube it and add about 3/4 cup of milk. leave it on low and it should be fine. There's also ragu cheese that comes in a jar, as well as cheez whiz.

My daughters school used to raise money by selling nachos and we kept the cheese warm by keeping it in a slow cooker. You will need to cut the cheese up and add some sort of liquid we used salsa. I liked doing it this way because you can choose how hot or spicy you want the nachos to be.

I think so. If you have time, try it before the big day with just a little bit of cheese. Another option is Nacho Cheese soup by Campbells. It's hard to find around here, but I have bought it before. They also have a plain cheese soup. Don't know how that is for nachos. Good Luck!

Yes you can, but add a jar of salsa to your Velveeta cheese or it will be too thick.
EDIT:
Lisa, I tried to respond to your email but it would not let me. It won't burn if you just put the cheese in there, but it is way too thick, almost like rubber cement. You have to add some sort of liquid. Dee below stated milk works, that should work for you and still keep it mild enough for the children.

I use one large block of velveeta, one can of rotel and two cans of cream of mushrooms oup.
Cut the cheese into cubes and add the other items. I cook on low in a crock pot until melted and combined. You might want to set it to warm when after it's all melted otherwise it might burn.

Just use a block of Velveeta (16oz I think) and a can of Rotel. Don't drain the juice. Just mix it in the crock pot on low. Stir whenever, and you are good. You can double it and triple it. Depends on how many will be there.
