cultured buttermilk you buy at the grocery store is nasty to drink, very acidic, but it is great for fried chicken, as well as baking. Real buttermilk, the leftover form making butter, is delicious, but you can't buy it as a commercial product, you can only get it if you make your own butter.

Hey... Buttermilk is sooo good. its good for fried chicken to make the batter but its great with cornbread or I love just to drink it , You must be from the South. Bet you dont like okra either. Buttermilk.red beans and cornbread are to die for.. there greatttt.ohh yes, you need sone fried taters too..lol

yes it does make a better fried chicken, but I would not taste it before you use it in the recipe you have. It will turn you off most likely.
buttermilk has serious flavor and is key ingredient in any good southern fried chicken recipe.

A bit like yogurt. Both are very good for you. Dont know about the fried chicken thang!

It tastes a bit bitter by itself, but will make fried chicken taste much better.

Buttermilk is sour, and yes if you soak chicken in buttermilk overnight in the fridge and fry it, it makes it really yummy.

it tastes like sweet curddled milk and soured yogurt, but it tastes
worse warm. It doesn't make chichen tastier.
