I don't believe the bible describes the destruction of earth in those terms. Oh ya the Bible does talk about the stars falling from their place and such. I'm sure if you look you could find more. The earth is not necessarily cruel, people can be. Jesus is life, and his fruit is justice, compassion, and love. The world has been subjected to evil threw the fall of Satan and his third. Working threw man, by what i believe to be his spirit. Sin and lawlessness "one and the same" have been reaping havoc by the fruits of his spirit which is evil, the opposite of live.

The world is so cruel because sin is in the world from Satan. I ( I am a Christian) believe that the world will eventually reach an end yes, when God finds the exact right time. No one will ever know exactly, it might be tommorow, it might be in the next week, it might be thousands of years from know. When God does return to Earth, he will take all of his followers up to heaven, and the everyone else will be left behind for 7 years. Everyone who excepts Christ by that time will live eternally with Christ for the rest of eternity, but the rest will perish. There is too much to describe everything that needs to be known, but read the last book in the bible and it will explain.

The world is cruel because Satan is the ruler of this world.
However, the earth has done nothing wrong. It's a beautiful place to live. The bible promises that the "earth is to time indefinite, even forever". The "meek would inherit the earth and live forever upon." As for the wicked, the bible says "it will bring to ruin those ruining the earth." ..."you will give attention to their (wicked) place, and they will not be."
Just as in Noah's day, God did not destroy the earth, but the wicked on the earth.

The world's not cruel
The world will burn up when the sun grows to an enormous size and becomes a red giant. The earth will be engulfed and if there's even anyone left here when it happens they're dead.
Who wrote that god will cleanse it with fire? thats the stupidest thing ive ever heard.

1 John 5:19: "We know we originate with God, but the whole world is lying in the [power of the] wicked one."
2 Corintians 4:3 &4: "If, now, the good news we declare is in fact veiled, it is veiled among those who are perishing, 4 among whom the god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, that the illumination of the glorious good news about the Christ, who is the image of God, might not shine through." Satan is here referred to as' the god of this system of things.'
The world follows its leader. That is why we look to God's Kingdom and Jesus Christ to make things right. That will be the new system of things where righteousness is to dwell. However, there is nothing wrong with the literal earth, and that is where the subjects of God's Kingsdom will dwell.
Psalms 37: 9-11, 29 & 37-40: "9 For evildoers themselves will be cut off,
But those hoping in Jehovah are the ones that will possess the earth.
10 And just a little while longer, and the wicked one will be no more;
And you will certainly give attention to his place, and he will not be.
11 But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth,
And they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.
29 The righteous themselves will possess the earth,
And they will reside forever upon it.
37 "Watch the blameless one and keep the upright one in sight,
For the future of [that] man will be peaceful.
38 But the transgressors themselves will certainly be annihilated together;
The future of wicked people will indeed be cut off.
39 And the salvation of the righteous ones is from Jehovah;
He is their fortress in the time of distress.
40 And Jehovah will help them and provide them with escape.
He will provide them with escape from wicked people and save them,
Because they have taken refuge in him.
Matthew 5:5: " “Happy are the mild-tempered ones, since they will inherit the earth"
Ecclesiastes 1:4: ".A generation is going, and a generation is coming; but the earth is standing even to time indefinite"
Psalms 104:5: "He has founded the earth upon its established places;
It will not be made to totter to time indefinite, or forever."

This earth will be purified by fire and restored for the true believers of God.
2 Peter 3: 7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
Revelation 21
1And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

It was believed in the early times that once water would destroy the earth and then at some point fire. Looking at the end times, fire is a possibility. Old things will pass away. Fire is used to purify.

the world isn't cruel. people are cruel. people cause pain and anger, poeple kill other people-the world does nothing. and maybe, if you believe that God will burn the world down in the end, then sure. but maybe people will be the cause once again-think nuclear warfare.

The world is cruel because reality is cruel. But, humans don't have to be. If we cast aside faith and come to terms with reality, we can minimize human suffering.
