Because obviously one of your parents must have died and caused you to stop believing. It can't be that you don't believe the Bible is the word of God.

I'll treat this as a serious inquiry, although I am atheist I am not a confused or disgruntled Christian and I wasn't sure at first where you got this idea from?
But after thinking about it for a bit I realized that possibly most of my 'gripes' on this forum have been directed towards Christians, I obviously don't believe in any religion but I have always found that Christians are the most intolerant of them all.
(The only way to redemption is through Christ) how condescending can you get? It is also the most unbelievable religion on the planet. I just cant think of any other religion that has as much to say as this lot, I've read answers from Muslims that try to explain that their prophet and Islam respects Jesus as a prophet but not as the son of God, also Jews have said the same thing.
So OK I am particularly anti Christian but I have never been a Christian this doesnt mean I dont understand them, I do ! This may be a reason why atheists are confused with being 'disgruntled ' Christians, maybe some of us really are, but not all of us.

Faith has been described as a "leap into the dark". As such, it can be a tricky thing. The walk of faith requires one to accept that a variety of unverifiable things are related and work in a predictable way, much as a blind person memorizes his surroundings.
Atheists are like people that move the furniture around in that dark walk. Their disbelief in the obvious "truths" that are all around us implies that they are not obvious, or not necessarily the "truth". In the dark, they are indistinguishable from Christians who have lost their gruntle and are breaking the furniture in their grief. Both are hazardous to the faith walk, but atheists are worse because they don't actually believe in the furniture. They suggest the believer is stumbling over nothing. But the moment a believer discovers one insubstantial chair or end table, the existence of the rest of the furnishings is in doubt. Of course they're real. They're ALL real! The atheists are just hiding things!
Whew! I almost didn't escape that extended metaphor. Once one makes the commitment to believe something, the background of life is transformed to match. What is believed is now "known", and all experience tends to support this new reality. An atheist doesn't verify this reality, therefore all atheists must be Christians in denial. That furniture doesn't move around by itself.

Because xtians just cannot comprehend a situation that would cause anyone to not believe in a god. I am an Atheist. When the subject rarely comes up people almost always ask me what bad thing happened to make me not believe or dislike god. Nothing happened. I woke up. Learned a few things about life, history, war, slavery, science, archeology and how much the innocent suffer. I have had a pretty good life. I am happier and more content since I stopped believing. Now I don't sit around and wonder why a loving god would allow terrible things to happen to good people. I feel free. They just don't get it though.

Ah I see
I disgruntled person is a disgruntled person. Anger is always anger, I suppose.
The trick is, not being angry. It's not the easiest rabbit to pull out of your hat. Especially with all the anger pointed at you. It's hard not to feel a little righteous indignation bubbling up inside you. I do. ;)

Because people cannot accept that intelligent people would choose not to believe something that the majority of socitey does, to some degree atleast , believe in. I dont think it matters who they are lumped with, but what disturbs me is that anyone gets a lack of respect due to their religious or non religious convictions. Spiriuality is a personal belief and not a character reference. I feel that as a Christian, it is my duty to NOT judge anyone based on religious belief or otherwise.

Always is a strong word. I think that surely it does happen. I see many of us, including me, on the defensive most of the time. We are strong opinionated people or we would not be here, and we disagree many times. I still have a great deal of respect for many of those that I disagree with. Like Father K or Tofu Jesus, for example.

The religionists will do anything to create obfuscation and confusion in order to protect their beliefs so they deliberately misrepresent atheists.

Because it's easier for theists to discount someone "angry with God" than a clear-headed rationalist who comes to a reasonable conclusion that God does not exist.

Because the only reason someone wouldn't believe in God is if they were "mad at" God.
I say this in all sarcasm.
