How do I tell which side of an axial resistor is positive?

How do I tell which side of an axial resistor is positive?

I looked up resisters on Wiki and was able to figure out it is a 680 Ohm resistor, I would like to assume that the first color 'ring' is the positive side. Are my assumptions correct?

Resistors have no +/- side. Only capacitors.
Connect the resistor any way you want
