I currently don't have the money to buy another amp, but any suggestions for good amps (reasonably priced) would be welcome.

You will have to amplify the signal before you plug it in. Once you get it plugged in though, it will come straight through the speakers. Make sure you plug it into the line-in and not the mic-in. The mic has a built in mic preamp and clips very easily (and no... unfortunately that preamp won't work for you)

A cheap mini-amp (they sell for about $20-30) works as a great preamp. I use one in my studio when I don't have my POD. Once you get it plugged in, go to the record menu on your volume control and check the line-in box instead of the mic box. Then, any sound recording program will be able to record the sound of you guitar. For a free sound recording program, Sony Acid has a free edition that is pretty good. You could try that. Or just use Windows Sound Recorder (in the accessories menu).

Overall, this technique gets you your best bang for your buck. Good Luck!

Well, before you go buying another amp, find out what's wrong with yours. Does it have an external fuse cap? if so, take it off and look at the fuse. Blown? Replace it. If not, take the amp section out so you can see inside. Some amps have fuses on the inside. I have Fender amps that have both a fuse cap (fuse on the outside) and two fuses in the inside workings.
Take it to a electronic repair shop and see if they can bench test it to see what's wrong.
As far as buying another amp, go to eBay. I have bought 14 Amps off eBay for very reasonable prices.
Good Luck.
