I just love the way you singled out Christianity to be hateful to itself. Are you showing a bit of ignorance too? Just because you feel an answer is intelligent or justified does not mean everyone else will also. I doubt that you have all the answers and the rest of us are just hateful. We can thumbs down anything we don't agree with. Get over it. I'm sure I'll get some downs on this, but unlike you, I just don't care.
God Bless you and have a wonderful New Year!

The thumbs down don't bother me, because I know everyone is not going to agree with my opinion.
However, I'd like to know that the questions are sincere and not a back and forth of Christians against Non-Christians or vice versa. True interest or curiosity is good. We are all human and should show respect for others beliefs. It seems to me that most of the questions start out as a negative remark against an others faith.

Agreed and thumbs up to your question.
I feel the answer lay in the fact that people cannot be confident, secure and happy with their belief system, while understanding the benefits of being open to learning about others beliefs that they may not share.
They see no benefit, and the human "lowest denominator" in regards to motivations takes over.
I mean, look at people who respond in this very thread. They ADMIT to giving thumbs down, simply because they don't agree with the belief system of another person. I don't agree with Islamic beliefs, but I can give a thumbs up to an intelligent answer to a question by a Muslim. But ones feel that if THEIR belief system is challeneged by another, then they just should "Thumbs down it".
As I said. The lowest common denominator in human motivations. They aren't secure enough int heir own belief system to see the benefits to examining why other people reason the way they do.

A "thumbs down" just means that someone else doesn't agree with your opinion. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. A thumbs down to a question might mean that either they don't care for the wording of your question as it might seem as a slight against their faith or your question doesn't seem like a question. I know I have given a few 'thumbs down' to someone who asks questions but then proceeds to answer their own question in the additions to their question (usually by quoting passages to the Bible or the Quran), these people seem more interested in preaching then asking a question.

I must confess I made some uncharitable remarks about Islam because I don't believe in their doctrines and their beliefs contradict Christianity. I do acknowledge that Islam contain partial truth. They believe in one God and that is truth. However, all the other beliefs like claiming that Jesus is just a prophet and not God is untrue. They also believed that Jesus did not die on the cross and that it was an illusion.
I would go with the Christian belief that Jesus lived, died, and rose again on the third day. To deny Jesus' resurrection would mean that all our sins are not paid. I must apologized for my uncharitable remarks about Islam.
To answer your question, people are so ignorant and hateful because their heart are lukewarm and selfish.

why sad i just call it honest, they have a right to their own opinions whatever it may be. That's what i think is most fun about this place is the massive difference of opinion. People have their own reason to feel the way they do i don't think it's either ignorant or hateful, that's just the way it is and without this "difference" the world would be a pretty boring place i think anyway

Yes lol
The most intelligent answers get the largest amount of thumbs down, but I wouldn't let it bother you. That's just how you know you've said something intelligent enough to threaten someone’s way of thinking.
