no cure or known cause. i have it, and in my case i believe it was a stress injury from weightlifting. and now i've had it for over a year....hooray! anti-inflammatories are supposed to help, but for me they really do nothing (even to the point that i was taking 4 advil 3 times a day on doctor's orders, and i still felt no real change). I have been taking glucosamine and chondroitin, which may help in rebuilding cartilage. i have been taking this for a month or so, and have not felt a change yet. i guess it's supposed to go away by itself over time, but i don't like it when i see ppl have have had it for 5 yrs or so. my doc said it may be a viral thing, but 2 blood tests a few months apart showed no signs of such.
so i guess the answer is no, and try to seek relief through meds and heat....and although ppl say don't worry about it, it'll go away, it sure is fun being in pain from doing things like sitting in the incorrect position, lol....can't wait for this to go away!

costalchondritis can be caused by something as simple as a bad cough or something as complicated as pleurisy. The treatment is usually with prednisolone if it is bad enough, often it will pass on it's own.
