Yes, but they should be in an air tight package to avoid oxidation.
But cook them after that they have been opened for 24 hrs.
Of course all foods that can spoil must be kept under refrigation and should not be consumed if left unfrigerated for more than 3 hrs unless they are reheated.

As many folks have already mentioned, frankfurters and wieners are already cooked as part of the manufacturing process, so your friend is not eating a raw frank just a cold one. It's not disgusting at all when you consider the fact that the blend of meats and spices in a frankfurter and/or wiener are the same (or very close) as you would find in Bologna.

They will not hurt you, they are cooked, but when cooked they do swell up a bit, so you may get the burps from them.I only buy the chicken franks for that reason, not belching.Just try one to see how you body works with them..good luck......

No.Because there are bacteria and stuff in them. And you have to kill the bacteria out by cooking it.I learned this in Home Economics. If you don't want bacteria in your mouth, cook or heat the hot dog. When the hot dogs are in the case they are partially pre-cooked.

I've never seen any that were pre-cooked, but I've never had EVERYTHING in the store. I would read the package first, as you were talking about in your explanation.

when i was younger i used to do that (eat them raw) and now i learned that they are actually boiled in water so they are kind of cooked. Avoid the temptation and just use 2 minutes to cook them.

I do. Embarassed to say, but true. It's like a little log of bologna. Taste's yummy and I've made it 32 years eating them. So far so good.
