That the tetonic plates that form the earth's crust have moved in such a way the fossil was turned to appear to be upright.

Most likely the rock shifted from a position where the fossil was horizontal. It isn't impossible for a fossil to form vertically, though.

Would you believe nothing-fossils are usually only found in sedimentary rock which was formerly soft sand or mud so whatever position the animal died in is how it's fossilised bones will remain as the sedimentary rock is formed.

Probably they fell into a viscous swamp or some pitch before they died that way. The other options posted with regards to later tilting or metamorphism would have destroyed the fossil.

i would say that a meteor hit the earth and they were covered in dust buried alive standing upright, but thats just a guess

It would mean that the creature died in the flood of Noah, and the different strata of earth were laid down in a short period of time, rather than over millions of years.

They were buried extremely quick,and didn't die off one at a time.If everyone thought that they were buried quick,it would give credit to the flood account.
