It would depend perhaps in what manner the existence of GOD were proven? For example, the ability to conjure up things or fool some perhaps gullible people need not prove the existence of a ONE AND ONLY OMNIPOTENT BEING. Take David Copperfield for instance or the Reverend Moon etc.
That being said, I agree with those who said faith is faith. It would not necessarily change much as there will always be those who would say this is not GOD or perhaps the ONLY seemingly supernatural being in existence. Where there is one there may be others...blah blah blah. You get the jist.
I think what would definately change is the need for BLIND FAITH. I think blind faith is not faith at all. As thinking rational compassionate human beings a religion is most useful and powerful when it does not require us to judge others or place ourselves above any other human beings and one that uses the power of reasoning to reach out to people rather than the power of blind faith or believe what I believe or else.

I think that most people who are non-believers are really just unsure. I think there are far more people who are looking for answers, rather than just blatantly deciding there is no higher power whatsoever. I think that in this day and age, if God were factually proven to exist, that faith would be obsolete, and the churches would be completely chaotic with repenting "sinners". I think the good question is, what would happen to faith if a non-Christian God were proven to exist?

Okay... faith means to believe without evidence (let alone proof). God can't be proven or disproved. Even if He WERE proven (which is scientifically impossible) He WOULDN'T exist because He only exists through faith. It's as impossible as a square circle. It can't be done. God can only and will always exist in the minds of people (unless we eventually get to NO people believing in myths).

I think that the human race has a need to explain what feels out of reach, beyond grasping. And if God were proven to exist faith would change subject and turn toward something else : aliens, fairies, nature, etc.

I would think that would cause the faith of a lot of people to increase.
I already have proof. I had an after death experience during surgery 21 years ago. During this experience, I spent what seemed like a very short period of time in Heaven. It was the most precious experience of my life. It gave me definate proof that God is real and Heaven is real.
Many people have also had near death or after death experiences, who know that God is not a myth, but that God does exist.

God does exist - that fact is proven by my faith in Him.

It depends on how powerful God seemed to be once he was proven.
If it were proven that Jack Nicholson is God, I think some people would find this hard on their faith.

I believe we were sent here to earth from heaven to learn more about faith. Faith is belief in something when you don't have proof. Proof of God's existence would prevent us from gaining any faith.

We cannot prove that god exists, that is the very virtue of faith. If we find God, then we can no longer hold faith that he exists.

There would be a mass amount of converts followed by a huge rise in the amount of churches praising and worshiping of God. Still, there would be skeptics ,non-believers and people who will still want to shun God, even though He would be proven that He is glorious and good. God bless you all.
