Check the http://www.runningnetwork.com/ for stores. They will have a lot of specialty stores with knowledgable staff who can help you find the right ones.
Avoid Nikes though. They can't make a running shoe worth s***. Asics have carried me through 5 marathons and more.

i look at the clearance racks at sports shops and shoe stores. racing flats are often there at a reduced price. the midsole starts to harden after a year of shelf life so be vary. Also Nike has factory outlet stores that also have clearance. With women's shoes and women's sizes there are options for racing flat type shoes that you might not think about. The racing flat is a shoe to use for a race event and not high mileage. So light weight trainers will work and even generic "running" shoes that would not last for heavy miles would even last for racing.

Eastbay.com

There are some sweet discounts. On fabuloussavings.com, there is a link you can click that will give you 20% off any order (no code required). Also, there is a code that can give you 20% off (LKS1PERK, I think. Google "eastbay discounts and check up on that). If you use both discounts, you can get a freaking good deal.

Edit: im wrong, it doesn't let you combine the two offers.

Get some Nike Mayfly trainers. They last for 100km & are the lightest shoes you can buy, they cost £25 or less
