I'm looking for something that is stable and doesn't rotate in and out of clear vision when I'm playing sports.

Acuvue makes a pupular brand of contact lens for astigmatism. Be warned, however as people with astigmatism have mixed results with contact lenses. They are called toric lenses and they are not as comfortable as regular lenses. They tend to make your eyes feel a lot drier compared to regular lenses or glasses.

I used to have an astigmatism and corrected it via lasek surgery. At one time I used the toric lenses but eventually the dryness became too much of an issue and I went back to glasses. Once I got tired of glasses my only other alternative was surgery. The surgery has worked out great and would recommend it. Just do your research and make sure you get a good doctor.

Most people I have talked to with astigmatism try the contact lenses for a little while but eventually run into dryness and comfort problems.

In your case I would recommend you try the contacts out but if it doesn't work, seriously consider the surgery. The surgery can be expensive but most doctors these days offer payment plans which makes it much more affordable.

The kind of contact lenses that correct astigmatism are called "toric" lenses, and unfortunately the way the lens corrects your astigmatism is by having one part of the lens weighted, which causes the rotation. . . . you should call your optomitrist, and talk to them about your problems . . . there are many different brands of toric lenses. You might also check w/ your doctor about the base curve of your eye, that sometimes has something to do with how much your contact moves around on your eye. And remember, getting the perscription right for toric lens wearers is, alot of times, trial and error to find the best correction!
There are the "old type" of contact lenses, the hard, small ones, they're called Gas-Permeable lenses, these are specially made to fit each patient, these have a better success rate, but they are very hard to wear, especially when you're used to the soft ones . . . I hope I gave you some ideas . . . feel free to drop me a line if you want clarification!
