I'm a young woman of 24 who still suffers from severe acne and have had it since the age of twelve, my doctor has been useless and yet it is hard to believe that in this modern age there isn't something that could cure this, my doctor says it has nothing to do with my diet as I asked her as i'm grasping at straws as to what is causing them, I mainly have severe blackheads rather than red spots buts its really effected my confidence over the years and its now hard just to walk out the door, I have tried so many medications and creams both bought in the chemists and prescribed by my doctor but none have worked, I used one cream for ages but my skin didn't improve and it seemed immune to the cream, its really getting me down as i've had them for so long now and its gotten almost unbearable for me, the doctor dodsn't want to know and the skin specialist (an elderly gentlemen) wasn't interested either, anyone else have this probelm and does anyone have any recommendations or advice, thanks!

i had the same problem and tried quite a few things over the years. one of the cheaper products i tried that worked very well on me, was pure-pore fection from avon. i used the skin refining mask a couple of times aweek and the cleanser and toner every day. this coupled with a non greasy moisturiser kept my skin good. last year i had a flare up and was treated with a strong antibiotic and a topical cream called duac. my skin was clear within 14 days. good luck.

Proactive and I swear by it. I've been using it the past four years and it really does give you clear skin again.
They have 3 strengths, the one you see on the commercials is the regular strength. I've recently changed my strength because after my daughter was born (probably wild hormones to blame for this) proactive wasn't as effective as before. So I now use the stronger strength that you have to ask for when you call...they also have another moderate strength that is salicylic acid.
It's an incredible product. Doesn't dry out skin and is very gentle. You'll see results very soon.

I had spots which were very painful at times with no forth-coming results from either doctor or hospital so I decided to try a little dab of Iodine on them sometimes I'd cover with a plaster after a day I was able to squeeze them with-out pain and remove heads then put on cream ie TCP they've all now disappeared.

i am using proactive twice a day and always in the morning b/c sometimes i forget at night. Use proactive but use the face scrub in the shower. I mean, shower in the morning and don't put soap on your face, instead of soap, use the scrub from proactive because using too many things can dry up your face. Then after the shower, use the toner and lotion from proactive. Nobody should use soap in the shower on their face, they should keep a facial scrub in the shower for their face instead to prevent over drying and flakes.
Also, about the blackheads, whichever treatment you use, make sure it is after a hot shower because then the pores open up and it will be easier to remove the blackheads.

Hi! i am a license Professional Esthetician meaning Professional Skin Care Therapist i been in the beauty business over 20 years and i have seen thousands of woman with your problem! this is what you need to do first of all you need to get a real good facial from someone that has more than 4 years exp. i mean exp. not just a license lingering in there paper work for 4 years. You need extractions that means a deep pore cleansing facial then you need to be on good skin care! using professional products! not some store bought over the counter drug store skin care stuff. Yes diet is very important! to much oil and saturated fats, sugars and no fiber or water, vitamins is very toxic to your skin! Now if your close to Los Angeles, CA i would suggest you see me you will see results in 1 week! but if you are not find a salon that does facials ask to speak to the facialist and look at her skin! and interview her ask her years of exp. and ask her if she uses her hands for extractions if so she is no good!! you need a facial with the facialist using an implement called an extractor! very effective in removing all the blackheads and cloged pores so thats it facials are expensive they run about $90.00 and up for an hour but you can buy a series of facials like for instant 5 for $ 80 and get one free so ask for a series that runs in that range and skin care products you will need a Purifying Gel Cleanser i have a great one for $25.00 it cleanses and removes dead skin and its natural anti-bacterial then i suggest a Lotus Flower and Ginseng Tonic $25.00 to lightly hydrate your skin with out a heavy moisture feeling on your skin that is applied on a cotton ball after you cleanse all over your face to nourish and hydrate and finally a Clay Masque $25.00 very important! you do this once a week for 30 min. then rinse the clay masque. The Clay Masque absorbs excess oil and closes the pores! but of course this should be done after you get a good deep pore cleansing facial! so let me know if you are in L.A. come see me! if not get a good facial i will send you small samples of the product if you wish and you can do mail order skin care from me. Sincerly, Andreah

The best way to get rid of blackheads is to remove the cause of them — excessive sebum (oil) and dead skin cells. Use only products made with natural ingredients that are not too astringent. Harsh products can strip the skin of oil, causing it to produce more sebum which leads to more blocked pores. I use products that contain natural oils, such as jojoba or coconut oil to cleanse the skin e.g tea tree oil (nose strip).
