No difference, you have the terminology wrong.
Islam is a religion. Muslims are the followers of Islam.
It's just like Judaism is a religion and Jews are the followers of Judaism.

There are almost as many sects, divisions, types, brands, of Islam as there is Christianity. If they didn't have Christians, Jews, Hindus, and Buddhist to hate, they would be killing each other by the tens of thousands insead of the few hundreds that they are now doing.
