Scientists opinion are that these were pre-historic large skeletons that resembled humans. Myth or fact ?

Folk myth and religion purport that these are fallen angels. The easiest readily available source are from palimpsests and scrolls making up Genesis.

Kindly support answers from historical and ancient text where possible and available.

jonmcn49: Asker: Was the search for a round earth fruitless ? Even constructive criticism without propositions and solutions are rarely purposeful and helpful.

To critique is often obvious. Lay persons, Tom Dick and Harry can criticise.

To resolve is man's achievement. One may criticise the goverment and all man kind except oneself. To look within and without for solutions that are practicable, at least provides direction of going somewhere, even if somewhere is nowhere.

Then again. It could be the festive blues.

- The four books of the Torah preceding the above and Genesis, recorded the existance of such creatures.

SUMMARY

Bubba provides a brief summary of the High Church’s transcription with Bill G, Curious Father, Jerry P, rhsaunder, jonmcn49 and pop c providing much of mainstream reaction and views.

Story has it that Nephilim are without wings as they were supposedly cast down. Palimpsest not of religious origins described creatures of immense beauty and strength that were only matched in their cruelty.

mick w // Attenborough is an able paleontologist bringing established findings to the screen. Everything else not satisfied under the criterion of science until proven beyond doubt must remain a myth and be perceived as such. Needless to say of the implications, much less reaction, of scholars when they were proposed that the Earth was not flat but round.

That is what some quantum physicists are up to. Hogwash should remain the watchword for everybody else.

" ...The rest is myth and folklore devised in an attempt to explain the fossils and to reconcile them to a belief system." - (an answerer above)

Very interesting idea. I wish I had a better answer about the Nephilim. The only thing I know about them is a very brief description in Genesis, which the first answerer summarized very nicely. They were also key players in the fictional novel, "Many Waters" by Madeleine L'Engle (author of "A Wrinkle in Time")... (yes, I know the use of quotation marks is not the appropriate way to reference a title of a book... I just couldn't underline :) )

I read the Wikipedia article on "Gigantopithecus." This was an excellent example of the use or perhaps misuse of fossil data to support theory. As the author of the article wrote, the fossil data is scant. The description of an ape that was nearly 3 meters tall were all extrapolated from a few teeth (molars specifically). This appears to me a case more of the imaginative powers of a wishful paleontologist than that of true science... and yet it is fairly accepted by the "scientific" community as truth.

Also, the comment that myth and folklore was used to explain fossil evidence may not be true in this case, as the fossils were found in Asia and the Indian subcontinent in the past century... a long way from the Middle East where the Genesis accounts originated, and several thousand years late.

Hmmm... doesn't it make you wonder?

"Scientists opinion are that these were pre-historic large skeletons that resembled humans".

Really?

Why have i not heard of these, fossils of giants?
There has been much speculation about Homo floresiensis.
Lots of fuss for such a little cousin.

But nothing about giants,,, with wings!!!
Why hasn't David Attenborough ( grace be upon him ) shown us the rare and precious remains of these Nephilim.

I'm sure my ancient and learned techno-paleotologist friend would have let me in on the secret by now, if there was such a secret.

Could be another conspiracy of course!

As you have said, scientists have discovered large human type skeletons. The Bible says that the fallen angels went in unto the human women and had intercourse. The resulting offspring were the Nephilim. The Bible even calls them giants. This was one of Satans attempts to destroy God's creation of man. When Noah and his family was saved in the flood, the Nephilim were destroyed. The Bible says that God chose Noah because he was righteous and perfect in his generations. This means there were no Nephilim in his ancestry. Some of the false gods that many ancient people worshipped could in fact have been Nephilim. Just one more attempt by Satan to draw people away from the truth.

Easy answer. They are/were the Greek, Roman, Asian, gods. Zeus, Aphrodite, Apollo, Thor, Vulcan, Posiden, etc. You can find countless stories about them. Hercules was the product of a god and a human.

A fiction. See the Wikipedia article (easily found via Google) for details.

I couldn't say this better....

If its not in acknowledged history, then it's rather obvious there's no proof of their existance.

Plus for them to be considered real, you have to consider angels fact. And of course, if you consider angels fact, you have to consider God a fact.

Is there proof of Gods existance? Answer that one and you'll have your answer whether Nephilim existed or not.

Well unless one is a supporter of the alien theory, in which case they would be part alien instead

Gigantopithecus.
These were real.

Their bones were undoubtedly known to pre-literate and pre-scientific peoples. The rest is myth and folklore devised in an attempt to explain the fossils and to reconcile them to a belief system.
