The most effective thing we can do to stop global warming is to stop reproducing at such a rapid pace.

I know this sounds bad, but I am not trying to troll. Think about it for a second. If you have 4-5 kids, those kids are going consume energy. They will likely drive cars, use air-conditioning, mow lawns, and grow up to have energy-using families of their own.

If every family had no more than 2 kids, global warming would be a non-issue in 20-40 years. So instead of spending millions upon millions of dollars on global warming research that will likely have very little impact on the problem, why don't we spend some of that money on controlling the population.

But then I guess that would make too much sense.

Big business in USA, ignorant citizens, indifferent citizens, selfishness, laziness and a resistant non-green government (president, congress-senate, etc) are blocking many green initiatives even though some positive things are happening slowly! Solar energy, geothermal, wind mills, biofuels have long been possible alternatives for renuable energy, but changes are not happening as fast as I'd hoped! But the "old way, old world thinking" still reigns unfortunately. Since fed govt is not doing its vital part here, individual cities and states and committed individuals are starting to wake up and take action themselves. We need a big wave of committed individuals to get really active. I am renting solar panels in 2007 for our little log cabin and we are building our electric car this year too. We built a masonry stove to heat the house and cook. We grow a lot of our food, are vegetarian and use/reuse our bath and dish water to water our trees. We hang all our clothes to dry on clothesline too. If you want any more ideas or want to talk about any of these things, feel free to e-mail me. I recommend you see three movies from Netflix....

Who killed the electric car
Inconvenient Truth
The Corporation.....

especially if you need some inspiration to act! We can all do our small part and be part of the solution! It is not just an environmental-survival issue. It is part of mental, emotional, social, moral and spiritual wellbeing and responsibility!

Think GLOBALLY, act locally!

The Bush administration actually recognized global warming today by proposing listing polar bears as a threatened species because sea ice is melting due to warmer temps. This will bar the government from doing anything to jeopardize the animal. This might mean the government can control emissions of greenhouse gases.

We all have to stop purchasing the products that cause massive amounts of global warming. As a capitalistic society our if our economy has the demand for more global warming friendly products then the more likely our country will change. So start only using energy efficient products, buy a hybrid, etc.

usa had pollutants controls in effect long till now lots of the international did. All this crap you hear with reference to the united statesis hogwash. vehicles made in many international locations around the area won't be able to additionally be imported here by using fact of our emission controls. We have been putting Precipitators and Scrubbers on capability flora long till now maximum international places. once you hear statements like "the united statesis the biggest polluter", undergo in suggestions there are in basic terms some international places as super by using fact the U S, and none that produces greater desirable than the U. S.. i'm no longer saying we could continuously do much less, i'm in basic terms saying I even have lived and traveled around the area, and be certain you get the data.

All you global warming fanatics want to do something to help the planet? Think about it. Every breath you breath out contributes to the CO2 pollution.

If you really want to help and feel it is THAT important, then go die somewhere fast.

America is only contributing in worsening it.
I mean, just think about it, the industries and other human aactivities are just increasing day by day.
Though they have invented alternatives for petrol and diesel for cars, but they are waiting for all oil to finish, so that they can get all the money.
They are just selfish.
No one is concerned about the so called 'Mother' earth.
But WE can do many things:
Firsf of all stop using cars.
Can you do it?
No
Nothing can be done until the head of states decide to do it

and you're sure it's all our fault this is happening, and that this is not just a natural cycle of mother earth?

Now, all that aside, I believe America is starting to push towards alternative energy sources to reduce Greenhouse gasses, from biodiesel, and hydrogen powered cars, to solar powered homes. advances have been made to reduce the energy consumption of existing things such as light bulbs.

not nearly as much as it can or should.

politicians who CAN make changes are afraid of hurting the economy or making someone feel slightly disadvantaged. as long as this is the case, change here in america with respect to global warming is going to be slow and painful.
