The growth does not bother her and it does not bleed. It does not get any larger or smaller. She has had it for one year.

Older cats develop cyst or tumors as they age, it could be totally harmless, if it seems to bother your cat take them to the vet and get it checked,

If she has spent a lot of time outside in her life it could be a pre-cancerous growth. I wouldn't worry about it and when she gets her next vet check be sure to call it to the vet's attention.

The best and safest way to go would be to take her to the vet or even call and ask! Take care of it while it is little before it becomes life threatening.

Good luck and best wishes!

A tumor would be my only guess. The fact that she has had it for a year and no one has bothered to take her to the vet and actually find out kind of scares me though.

Take her to a vet just to be sure. There are websites to check out.

Two are: home.ivillage.com/pets/symsolve

wwwehow.com

Both talk about skin cancer and/or polyps.
