its in the front on my leg. its firm to the touch. it hurts. i am 14 and active with sports

It is called patellar tendonitis, if you have what I think you have. It is an overuse injury that I got while training for a marathon, so if you've been running around too much, not stretching and warming up properly, and overdoing it, that's what your injury most likely is. Also look into a benign condition known as Osgood-Schlatter's, which I think you might have since you're young.

If this knot is somewhat firm it isn't a vericose vein, it could be a calcium deposit. Which isn't serious. If you are worried about this or if it causes you some pain seek the advice of a medical doctor asap.

Could be a Baker's Cyst. Is it behind the knee? Does it hurt? How old are you?

It might be a pulled muscle. They sometimes feel like knots. Allthough if its not, you might want to see a doctor.
