I've heard of such shameless marketing of "religion"... Scientologists do it all the time. Members of Scientology are paid 10% commissions, called FSM (Field Staff Member) commissions, on new recruits they bring in who take a course or get counseling, so Scientology members routinely try to "sell" Scientology to others. These commissions are only paid out if these new recruits actually pay for member services, so the current members have to make SURE that the new folks actually pay good money to the "church".
So... it's not that uncommon for an organization intent on making money. Christianity is certainly a business in some respects and it doesn't surprise me in the least bit to hear that it's members are "selling" this particular brand of salvation.

Not sure why someone would be selling Christianity and Jehovah's books on the street and I've never heard of someone being paid for converting. I've never been paid a thing for converting but I have received forgiveness and a love that is incomprehensible for God so loved the world that he GAVE his only begotten Son to take our place for the judgment of sin. You just have to be careful as Jesus said "money is the root of all kinds of evil" and if you look at drugs, crime, prostitution, etc. you know exactly what He was talking about. People will also try to sell you religion or salvation but the price has been paid all we have to do is accept and believe.

This just blows my mind have the Christan got so desperate that they now have to pay people to convert their new followers. I wonder how much they are paying them is it a certain amount for one or a lump sum for a group of converts. I guess it falls under the sheep hunting for the sheep. I also wonder what sect of Christianity this is coming from. Oh boy now they are paying them to come after us. Look out street corners.

Who there had the most pragmatic position? It has to be the guy getting paid to do it. Although I have never heard of this, since most believers would do it for free. Missionaries fall in this group, but I think that is a valid field. They need to be able to focus on what they are doing and have to go where help is needed.

Moonie, I live in Vancouver BC... and i have also seen this 'drama' on a famous bus/sky train station here.
I agree, its happening... but under so many piles of witty diplomacy.
If u dont agree, pretend to be a non-Christan... and consult any Watchtower people. they will show you their way.
good luck!

I was in New York and people from Jehovah Witness used to come to our house when they knew we r Muslims. They used to convince us a lot, they tried to give us food items too, which we of course returned. i went to their church on their insistance, but wasn't impressed since there wasn't any pint of spirituality there, everyone was dressed up nicely, made up super-facially, and they welcomed me so diplomatically.
in Asia and under-developed countries, such things can be expected cuz of dangerous level of poverty in some areas. but whats the need of doing it in States and in Canada??? if these countries call them the most super, modern and developed countries... do they need any such hanky panky out of this utter desperation??
