i am in love with my best guy friend. i have known him for almost 3 years. i am a freshman and he is a junior. i just recently realized my feeings for him. his gf, also a freshman, is so fake and poserish. i am afraid that if i try to get between them, i will lose a friend. i want to find a way on how to tell him that i love him. i am a rather shy person, even around my friends. taking him aside has never really been an option lately because his gf has been hanging all over him. i just want to have his attention for 2 seconds. before he got a gf, we were very close. we held hands from time to time. he always had his arm around me. he hugs me every chance he got. after he got a gf, i wrote many blogs talking about the situation, but not mentioning any names. the last time he commented, he said that if he and his gf werent going out, he would have asked me out, and it was my fault for not "hopping aboard" into a relationship with "the guy".

just continue to be your happy go lucky self. Dont try and break him up with his girlfriend cuz nothing at this age is forever and if you stay friends with him you will be close by when he does eventually end it with her. Then you can make your move and let him know that you like him.
I have seen your pictures and read some of your other questions and am surprised that you have low self esteem. Your are NOT an ugly person and seem to have a nice personality. You have friends but just lack confidence. At your age I envied the pretty girls like you. I wish I could help you to understand that you have half the battle won with just being pretty, now all you need is the brains(knowledge from school/college) and you will be unstoppable.
And as far as the guys go, you cant MAKE anybody like you. Just be yourself and it will happen. Maybe not with this guy but there is one for you out there.

I like Tyler Durden's answer, but I can tell you from experience that those feelings will eat you up inside unless you act on them. I know he is probably a good friend, but there will be more if you lose him. The saying goes "better to have loved and lost then never have loved at all". Make your move, I didn't the first time and it was total agony for years and we are not even friends any more. The second time it happened I wasn't going to go through that again, and we are going on 10 years marriage now.

Well my question to you is...why didn't he make you his girlfriend in the first place...he was only holding hands and stuff like that with you....and you were writting blogs about him....he knew you liked him or you wouldn't have been holding hands in the first place...it looks to me like he didn't think you were good enough for girlfriend material...he holds this girl like a trophy...but held you as a toy he just got tired of playing with....i tell you to move on....and find another guy....because he was on your ship and abanded ship a long time and went on a cruise and is probably getting a wild ride....i believe its tooo late my dear you lost in the long run and its time to move on or wait and hope ....and maybe they will break up or get invited to the wedding....

Ask yourself what you'll wish you'd have done looking back on this event in your life when you're 25. I'm 25 now and I wish I'd have been a little less shy when I was in high school.

Have all the fun you can while you can! Be smart and be safe, though!

there is no other reason to live other than take risks. i say write him a short letter telling him that you'd like to go out with him to see if you're both attracted to one another. If it works then you'll have the best time of your life. If things dont work out, it would have fizzled out anyway and all you did was speed up a painful proccess.

well, this should help....

Act like you normally do around him. Be yourself!
Ask him questions about himself. This way you'll learn more about him.
Get a little flirtatious! If you don't know how to flirt, then check out the 'How To Flirt' pages on wikihow.
Once he becomes more talkative, gradually tell him how you feel about him.
Ask him to a movie or something you both enjoy doing. If it makes you uncomfortable to call it a date, just ask him if he wants to 'hang out.' Congratulations, you've asked him out!

I was in your same situation. You just have to take a chance and tell him how you feel. Holding it all inside doesn't do anything. Sometimes the biggest risk you take, can lead to the greatest reward.

Could it be now that he has a girlfriend, your all of a sudden have feelings for him because you see competition? Ask yourself that question because you may not be in love with him maybe just jealous at the fact he's now giving someone else his attention and not you.
