Some psychiatric meds can effect your period/cycle. I'm not sure about Celexa, but if you go to the website and look under prescribing information you should be able to find an answer to your question. I tried to look it up for you and didn't find anything connecting the two, but I just skimmed through (there is a lot of info on there.) Another source you might want to check out is remedyfind.com
I think the nausea is a pretty common side effect. If you aren't already, you can try taking the Celexa with food, which may minimize that problem. But keep in mind, bc pills are not 100% effective, even when taken correctly. Also, some medications can lessen their effectiveness (you probably know about antibiotics already, but other meds ...Trileptal for instance...also can do that.)

This same thing happened to me when I started taking Celexa. To be on the safe side, though, I'd take a pregnancy test. I ended up taking 3, and all were negative, so I am attributing my missed periods to the depression and the Celexa.

I was on Celexa for 1 yr and never missed my period (I was on the pill as well) but the Celexa did make me feel nauseous every day... Call your doctor and tell him/her your side effects. Sometimes, antibiotics and other medications may interfere with the effectiveness of birth control pills or vice versa. Double check to make sure... but most likely these side effects will wear off as your body adjusts to the new medication. Good luck- hope everything works out well for you.

This happend to me. Not with Celexa but with a different birth control brand. It made me so sick and I craved pickles on everything. I knew I wasnt pregnant because it would of been physically impossible at the time, but I had all the symptoms. Nausea, cravings, having to pee alot, being tired, and just feeling weird. I went off it all together because birth control really took a toll on my physically. Different brands can give you all kinds of side affects, so dont freak out until you see your Dr. I would highly recommend making and appt NOW just to be sure and maybe getting another brand if you cant take the side effects.
