I really want to make my guestroom higher than it is, so is there any painting technique that I can use to cause this effect???

My ceiling is too low, I just want a way to make it look as if is higher. Is there anyone that can help???

Thanks in advance!

one foolproof way to achieve this is to paint the ceiling the same color as the walls, thus avoiding the horizontal color change line. any thing taller than it is wide will help the space seem higher: furniture, mirrors, pictures, window treatments; this creates vertical lines that are longer than horizontal lines. stay away from chair rails and crown molding that are different colors than the walls.placing pictures and mirrors lower on the walls then normal will also help. also, avoid large sections of horizontal shelving.

An easy way to do vertical stripes is get the same color in paint, in flat and gloss. Paint the walls the flat color, then use painters tape and paint the glass. It's subtle but very classy.

use vertical stripes, either paint them or do wallpaper, use a flat white or very light color paint on the ceiling.
good luck
