What program are you using? Is that program creating the M4A file, or are you using another program? Try searching for the converter, I know of lots of MP3 converters for Windows...I'm sure there are lots for Mac as well.

I haven't used Garage Band, but I know on other programs (like pro tools, sonar, samplitude, nuendo etc) you need a included mp3 converter. About half of the programs give you one for free, the other half, like Sony, decides that you need to purchase it seperate to be able to encode mp3's. So here's my answer, search the web for m4a to mp3 converter, or you'll might need to convert down to WAVE file, and get a wave to mp3 converter. Currently my mp3 converter for sonar expired, so I'm forced to make it to wave, then import to Waves and then export as mp3.
