i have a mix of curly and wavy hair, yet the crown of my head is straight. my hair used to be very long, but i just got it cut so now it is about half an inch below my shoulders. after my hair dries, it gets frizzy and it...well...expands. is there a good product or way to get rid of such volume or to flatten out my hair (minus straightening it)? My problem has been torturing me for years, whether my hair is long or short. I am white by the way. please somebody help

Humm... Try getting a stylist to thin it quite heavily, then use a silkening or light gel to smooth it down, nothing with super or ultra hold though so it won't be stiff. Hope that at least gives you some ideas.

I kind of have the same problem but I keep my hair long. I've recently just ended up living with my frizzy/wavy hair but putting gel/anti-frizz stuff and blow drying it and let be as it is.. only cause I've been too lazy to straighten it.

But I've seen this on WHAT NOT TO WEAR on the Learning Channel.. and they put some anti-frizz stuff and the person had hair like yours, i think? And she still had the wave/volume but the frizz went away and her hair looked real nice..

You can try out some anti-frizz serum at any local drug store and if it doesn't work, my aunt said as long as you have the reciept you can return it. She use to do that all the time.. so yeah.

OK, start with a good clarifying shampoo, once a week is a good idea. I have a feeling, your hair has some build up and that can make hair poofy and frizzy. If that does not help, use a light weight leave-in conditioner, that will eliminate some of the volume and tame if down.

I have a neice that is white and has really frizzy hair. I have to go to her house and straighten her hair with a (wet to straigt) straight iron. it really does the job. You can do it wet or dry of course. Make sure you use plenty of conditioner though. I also straightn my hair with the same thing. I have the same problem as you. I can either wear my hair straight or curly.

First of all use shampoos and conditioners that are for straight and sleek like garnier (sleek and shiny) that would help tame it a little. Than use some hair serums for straightning. Then blow dry straight and use a flat iron or curling iron but spary a little of biolage hairsray before straightening that helps keep it straighter longer.

When your hair is wet try putting in a oil like serum.. You can try Biosilk.. It should help keep the frizz and make your hair feel silky.

This link goes to a picture of what a thinning tool looks like. When you go to a salon to get your hair cut just tell the person that you want your hair thinned. She will get out this thinning tool shown in the liink above.
