How does the use of imagination enhance the meaning of the poem?

Many poems aren't necessarily literal descriptions of something or someone. They can be full of figurative language (metaphors, for example, "the ship plows the sea", and similes, "lips like berries") and other allusions.
A good imagination can visualize these phrases and carry them even further, giving the reader a fuller picture than what appears on the page.

The use of imagination adds color,life and a unique touch to anything!I find poems with the use of an imagination more interesting and leaves me in awe...that's how it emphasizes it-I don't why or how it gets me in awe-but all I know is that it's a greater poem with the use of imagination

how the words affect the reaction in your mind. does it spark your imagination? does it take you to another place? it works when you write also.

It puts more of the poets focus on form rather than on theme.
