No - better quality components produce a better quality picture.

If you get chance, do a side-by-side comparison with a £50 DVD player and a £500 DVD player.

I gaurantee the £50 jobbie will have a 'fuzzier' picture; paler, more washed out colour; more artifacts (flickers, flashes, shimmers, etc.) on the screen; blacks will look brown or pale grey instead of black; whites will be glaring and unnatural.

You can't buy champagne for beer money, or a Ferrari for the price of a secondhand Reliant Robin. The same is true in electronics, as with everything else in this world.

Yes. The parts are all made in the same place and according to the specs and standards of the patent holders. So if you get a $30 player or a $300 player the picture quality will be the same.

all DVD players play the same quality, it is how that signal gets to your tv that counts and of course the quality of the TV
A great dvd player will only be better insofar that it will have more functons and react quicker
