The Pharaohs of that era, people who had taken over from one that Joseph helped shop, had a software of exterminating the sons of Israel. The midwives have been to kill them at start. God, on the mind-blowing plague, repaid that empire for their attack on his sons, no longer basically the firstborns. (remember Moses became the third born). Plus the firstborns weren't basically the youngsters, yet even the grown adults between the Egyptian inhabitants, who did no longer have residing firstborns. So it somewhat is obtainable that between a number of people who died, they have been of the royal type and armed forces that attempted to kill the sons of Israel.

No, you're not the only one with a problem with it.

Just one of the few who doesn't try to justify or rationalize it.

You can find the same theme repeated a number of times throughout the bible. Apparently in biblical times, being the first born was akin being born with a birthmark that says "Smite Here.'

Does seem to imply that the Hebrew God is either a notoriously bad shot or just doesn't care about collateral damage. Poor little Bambi.

.,me!: "God only did that because they don't want to listen and they think God doesn't exist."

Are you suggesting that the first-born livestock consciously rejected God?

It was not God's direct wrath, the eruption of the volcano that caused the other 9 plagues eventually released CO2 gas across the Nile delta. the first-born sons slept near the ground in Egyptian society, they suffocated. God didn't smite them, they died from a natural disaster. God did tell Moses about it though, the Hebrews, at their tables, avoided the gas.

God only did that because they don't want to listen and they think God doesn't exist.,.Moses showed them the power of God and they didn't even care!! What if you're in his position, you're creation not caring and not believing in you even though you already showed them your power???? If you're in his God's position you might destroy the whole world and not just the firstborn sons and The donkeys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually I find it appalling that God would kill baby animals just because of who owned them. Oh, and baby people too, of course. But animals? Seriously, what did Egyptian donkeys do to deserve having their offspring killed? Did they CHOOSE to be donkeys owned by the Egyptians? I think not.
