Well the MOST important thing to remember is that you cannot get RID of a habit, that rarely works. You need to replace a bad habit with a good one. It also takes at least 2 months to firmly ingrain a new habit.
You need to clean out your kitchen. Throw out all the garbage food, chips, dips, candies etc. GET IT OUT of the house. Do not buy anymore. Do not let the kids talk you into buying more. Explain to them that the one thing in life that really MATTERS is your health, because without your health, life is hard, if not impossible, to enjoy.
Remember that everyday you quit and go back to crappy eating habits is another day that you are punishing yourself and holding yourself back from a happier, free life.
Go to the gym even when you don't want to! It never fails, once you get there you will enjoy yourself. 90% of the battle is getting there! Stick with it, and don't let people in your life get you off track...People often want fat people to stay fat. "Come on, lets have pizza tonight, it won't hurt just once!" "Have that ice cream, you can work it off tomorrow" Remember that you are building NEW habits for a better life and a better future for both you AND your children. Children learn by example, do you want them to suffer health problems later in life because you didn't teach them proper eating habits? No, of course you don't. So remember that this isn't only about you, but your childrens future! When you get the urge to eat, get out of the house, walk, hit the gym...eventually you'll replace food with healthier options.
You can do it, but only if you realize that you are worth it.

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.
I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.
It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.
Get started today!

Know that each day you continue on your regimen, you are getting closer to your goal. It is hard to continue, at times; however know that you are moving closer and closer to your goal. Keep up the regimen, see if you can meet someone at the gym that shares your same routine.. perhaps a buddy is the best solution. When someone counts on you at work or elsewhere, you are more prone to stay on track.. this partnership could benefit both of you. I am sure there are people at your gym that feel the same way. I know that the gym is sometimes viewed as a 'meat market' - but trust me there are others who share a serious desire to lose weight... find one of them. I wish you the best of luck. This is a hard thing to do, but it is so worth it. You are on the right track.... keep it up!

There are so many times that I feel too tired to exercise. When this happens I at least put my gym clothes on and take some deep breaths. I drag myself to the gym and at the very least do 10 pushups and tell myself "Good job, you're trying!" This motivates me to do more.
Also, please do not drink pop, drink water or cranberry juice instead.
So many people view losing weight as depriving themselves, but I think its more about ADDING foods to your diet, like veggies!
Health is a gift, Happy Holidays!

If you don't have junk food, you can't eat it. Every time you can resist the temptation, you should reward yourself somehow. Sometimes trading like a heavy-duty workout with a walk in the park is really nice (and relaxing!) Try to put a lot of the food group foods into your diet and then you can still have a few of the "extras" every day. You're supposed to eat at least:
9 servings of bread/grain
4 servings of milk/milk products
2/3 servings of meat/bean/nut
4 servings of vegetables
3 servings of fruit
Try and follow these guidelines... Good Luck!!

i think imagining the impact of an athletic , graceful body on someone from the opposite sex is most powerful (for straight people at least )
next comes the survival instinct : if you study about all the different ways obesity will shorten your life and decrease the range of physical activity you can do , then following a diet will be easier .
when you see documentaries on poor countries like bangladesh or some south american country , how often do you see fat people ?
thats because there is some good in poverty :you cant eat more than you need because getting what your body needs is hard enough .
