You don't have to, but it is customary to bring at least a small gift. A bottle of wine, box of chocolates, or nice hand lotion should suffice.

If you are going out , like to dinner, or a club I would just by them a shot or a drink, and bring along a card.. That would be nice.. If your going to someones house , I would pick up a gift I could afford

Hope this helps

My friends and I often do Birthday Dinners. I usually bring a card and an inexpensive gift. I also help pay for her dinner, either paying the tip or paying a portion of her bill.

well i went to a friends bday dinner on friday..... i got her a giftcard and a card... also... i wrote a short note/letter telling her about all the good times we had together... but only talked about inside jokes/things w/o giving away people's names... for example.... good times talkin about a certain someone who just so happens to be very very tall.........she loved it. she read the letter at the dinner and started craking up immediatly... only me and my other friend knew what everything ment...Also, make the card.... it shows that u still put thought into her gift. put it all into the envelope that came with the card...so when u give to her she can slip it into her purse or something...that way she doesnt have to carry a giftbag around

Find out from the person who is hosting the party....they may want a cash chip in for the whole party, they may want you to pay for your meal and chip in a small amount to cover the guests meal only and for that I would bring a small gift, if it is completely paid for I would bring a gift equal to or more equivalent to what the per person is paying for your meal.....

Umm yeah. But I believe a card is okay as well. It depends are you paying for your own dinner. If you are, you could still bring a gift, but I'd prob get one of lesser value.

Not necessarily but you'll probably all chip in to buy their dinner. I'd probably bring something small just in case or call the other people going to the dinner to see what they're doing.

Unless your gift is that you are paying for the dinner, a gift would be appropriate

you probably should, it would be polite. If you don't know what to get or there is another time you want to give them the gift just bringing flowers would be a nice gesture.
