As Sunset_F says, "poor communication". I would say "lack of communication," but it's all symantics. I always tell my friends and family that the best way to get through everything is to TALK to your partner about EVERYTHING.

The most common problem is relationships these days is communication amongst mates- If two mates can just lay it all on the table and let each other know what their expectations are in the relationship then everything else will fall into place.
If communication is lacking then everything else breaks down from there:
Trust- if there is a break down in comunication then one would not have to draw their own conclusions about what messages are being conveyed - (have you ever heard a friend say "what did he/she mean when he/she did this said or said that" )
Sex- if one person is lacking in one way shape or form in the sex department then communication is the best way to let your mate know what it is that u desire or want. Lack of comminication in this area is what causes a majority of people to seek whatever it is they desire elsewhere which starts the downward spiral of infidelity, mistust ..etc etc.
Communication is about getting your message across to the other it is not always verbal - (although I have heard that is almost always the most effective)

People don't have any relationship security anymore.
Your spouse can divorce you at a whim. And there is nothing you can do about it. In the morning, you can be living with wife and kids. And in the evening when you come home from work, perhaps you can find a note from your wife on the fridge saying that she can't hack with you anymore. She has taken the kids to stay with her mother. And she will be filing for divorce.
In a very short while such a man can find himself living alone and having to support two households because his estranged wife doesn't have a job.
When this kind of thing is possible. People in relationships simply cannot fully commit to each other.
A woman cannot risk giving up her career to have kids, because she knows that some day her marriage may end.
And the man often doesn't want to have kids, because he knows that these kids can be easily taken away from him in case of divorce. And all he will have left will be the bills to pay for the kids whom he no longer is allowed to parent.
People are afraid to get married. And those who do get married, often maintain their readiness to be single again on a short notice.

Lack of or inability to communicate. Illiterate individuals. Trust. Lack of self-esteem and self-worth. Sounds like the notes of a therapist, doesn't it?

1. Trust and communication
2. Self love plays a big part, know that you are ready to be with someone else, if not you will eventually hurt that person as well as yourself!
