Salads (very little dressing), fruits, beans, lean meats. Stay on the perimeter of the grocery store and skip the bakery.

Unfortunately, there is no wonder food - I am sure you've heard it before; however anything in moderation is a good start. BUT, that is not the only factor, your body make-up and metabolic rate also play a factor. There are several pills, diets and advisor's tips, yet you have to understand that a quick fix, a certain food or running twice and never again are not the true answer. Dieting is a lifestyle change and each day you have to stick to it. I have battled with weight issues and what I have found to work the best is to look at what I am eating, modify the portions I want to what is realistic for me. I also do not load up ever, I eat smaller meals and then make sure that I do at least 20 minutes of activity that elevates my heart rate. You DO NOT have to run a marathon; however raise your heart rate once a day and then increase to twice and then three times. Try to do this 3 times a week; however do not beat yourself up if you miss a day or time, just make it up when you think of it. Unfortunately, you will not see immediate results; however each time you do this you will feel better and stronger for the next. Weight loss is a hard thing; however trust me, it is something that should be done as routinely as possible. Listen to yourself and know that each day you do this, you are working toward your goal. Do not fall into the trap of expecting more than what you can do in a healthy way.. you will get there through persistence. You will. I hope you are overweight and I say that with the utmost respect... all too often people who are a healthy weight (especially women/girls) want to be thinner due to media bias; however please know that if you are a healthy weight you are beautiful.. and if you are overweight you are beautiful too. If you want to be healthier... I applaud you and I wish you the best of luck. It is not easy, trust me - I know.. but it is possible. I wish you strength... I sincerely do and I hope you can lose the weight you want to.
All my best.

Maybe the question should be "What not to eat to lose weight". Avoid sugar in any form and all white carbs (refined). Stick to whole grains and simple carbs (anything that has not been processed). It really works. Do not eat Pork or beef, egg yolk only once a week. Avoid fats and dairy -the only cheese should should eat are cottage and goat- .Remember that you can eat anything you want one day a week. I am 38 yo. and look 25 (only after I started eating this way). Exercise needs to be part of your weekly routine. Try and don't get discouraged if you don't get results overnight. I'll happen.

A meal plan example for 1 day:
Breakfast: 3/4 cheerios (plain, not honey or yogurt) and 1/2 cup of skim milk
Snack: 1/2 cup of 1% fat cottage cheese
Lunch: A salad with 2 TBSP of low or no fat dressing and plain tuna from a can or pouch on top. OR a Lean Cuisine with less than 25 carbs.
Snack: Protein Shake OR one ounce of Cheddar or Havarti Cheese
Dinner: 3-4 ounces of baked or broiled skinless chicken or salmon. 1 cup of Broccoli and 1/2 cup of carrots, no butter on either of them.

Fill up on fresh fruits and vegetables.
You will feel full and probably eat fewer fatty foods, sweets and bread products.
But don't forget to exercise, even a little helps. Get in the habit of parking in the far end of the parking lot, use the stairs when you can, get out to of the chair and change the TV channel on the set instead of using the remote.

I lost 17 pounds in 2wks by doing a low carb diet which I only ate 20carbs per day. its easy if you like birds, I started off with 2eggs bacon (preferably Canadian)but if not any is ok just read the carbs 1english muffin and 100%juice (make sure you count the carbs). your breakfast shoud be the most carbs you have all day at 1x. the rest is simple bake a whole bag of chicken tenderloins and do what ever you want with them like, put them in salads(use romaine lettuce) dip them in ranch,(make sure u count the carbs) or however u like it.try to drink plenty of water and if you want juice drink "crystal light" or diet pop,and for dinner eat some fish or chicken or steak with some green veggies and you cant miss.but remember you have to count your carbs,i marked them down in my day planner so when i went to work i wouldn't eat to much, and if you get a sweet tooth for the 2wks buy some cool whip anyflavor and eat 1 table spoon or freeze it,it taste like ice cream.but as long as you dont go over 20 carbs per day you can have as much meat, cheese and juice/pop as you want just make sure you count your carbs.

go with lots of fruits and vegetables and proteins you'd find in turkey or chicken. stay away from trans fat at all costs (hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated foods). all carbs aren't bad, just make sure to eat wheat based breads over white bread and flour substances. your body does need a little fat intake as well, so dont cut yourself completely off from sweets, just choose healthier ones like an oatmeal raisin cookie and make sure to only eat 1 !! portion control is the key.

I have gone from 161 to 129 since April 06 to now Dec 06 and I am still losing! I work out at least 3 times a week or walk. I eat allot of meat and veggies, allot of tuna, shrimp, mackerel, Salmon, turkey and chicken. Stay away from processed stuff like white flour and sugar, Splenda is a great sub for sugar. DRINK A TON OF WATER it is really the fountain of youth if you ask me (what do you get when you take water out of grapes or plums? that's what you get when you take water out of yourself to).

If ur fat exercise and stay away from alot of calories u can basically eat anything as long as ur exercising and putting off more energy than the food ur eating. Try to find ur calorie its based on ur height and how much u weight and it tells u how many calories u can consume in a day.
